Sunbridge Counseling Associates
Cheryl L. French, LPC

I provide both individual and group therapy to adolescents and women who are in any phase of an eating disorder. Most insurance companies cover the fee's for this therapy and if they do not then a fee agreement can be negotiated. I have been in private practice for 10 years and prior to that worked as a counselor for a private psychiatric hospital. I am in recovery from many years spent dealing with bulimia. I believe that recovery from an eating disorder is 100% possible and that a person can live a life free of obsessions and compulsive eating behaviors.

Levi Hospital Eating Disorders Clinic

Levi Hospital's Eating Disorders Clinic is a specialty clinic located at 300 Prospect Ave. in Hot Springs, Arkansas. The program is managed by Sandra Billie, Ph.D. It serves children and adolescents between the ages of 11 and 21 who are suffering from eating disorders.

Staff:
The Levi Hopsital Eating disorder Clinic staff is comprised of a psychiatrist, two psychologists, and a registered dietician. Close interaction between the primary car physician and Levi Staff is necessary since medical complications resulting from eating disorders are common.

Therapy Structure:
Referrals can be made by a physician, or may come from the family or school. An intake appointment will be scheduled so the family and patient can meet with all members of the clinic staff for a thorough evaluation. Labwork will aslo be done at this time and an appointment will be scheduled to have a bone density scan. The inital appointment will last approximately 2.5 hours.

After this evalution, the patient will be referred to their physican for an EKG, to assess any cardiac difficulties and a physical checkup.
Follow up appointments will consist of a brief appointment with the psychiatrist, as well as a brief meeting with the registered dietician. Treatment also consists of weekly individual one hour therapy sessions with a licensed therapist and group therapy for a little more then an hour.

A separate group for family members is scheduled at the same time as the group sessions. This group setting allows parents to discuss their concerns and struggles with others in similar situations.

Hospitalization due to medical problems accompying the disorder may be necessary in some cases or for issues regarding treatment resistance and failure to change eating patterns. On occasion, a patient may be recommended for residential treatment.
