Cynthia Mesmer, M.A., LCPC
8+ clinical experience working with adolescents and adults. Cognitive Behavioral Approach in treating eating disorders.
5999 New Wilke Road, Suite 213
Lauren Miller, Psy.D.
Moving from a career in the performing arts to a career as a Doctor of Psychology (ISPP/Chicago), I received training at the University of Chicago (Adult Neuropsychology) and in community mental health (Niles Family Service). I recently finished my clinical internship at Linden Oaks Hospital in Naperville. I had the privilege of working intensively with the psychiatrists, staff, and patients in the Eating Disorder Program, as well as with patients' spouses, partners, and families. The challenges of conquering an eating disorder are great, and the process of recovery often demands a team effort (dietician, therapist, psychiatrist). As eating disorders are not necessarily about the food, so much as being symptoms of a breakdown in communication and/or the avoidance of problematic feelings, I like to work both individually and in the family context when possible. I strive to create a partnership that suits the unique and always evolving needs of the individual client. Please feel free to call me to set up a free telephone consultation. I have offices in Chicago and Oakbrook (same phone number for both).

Christine Carpenter, Psy.D.
Throughout my years of clinical training and work, I have pursued my interest in the
relational model of psychodynamic psychotherapy which allows me to use the therapy
relationship itself as a major instrument of change. In keeping with my professional
experiences, I believe that maladaptive relational patterns developed early in life can
interfere with one's sense of personal well-being, ability to connect with others and
fulfillment in life. For many, these patterns take the form of eating disorders. In my view,
therapy offers a new experience of relationships that allows change and healing to occur in
an accepting and nurturing context. Through this process, new ways of coping may be
developed to replace the unhealthy eating patterns that are currently used to deal with life
stress and/or past trauma. I work closely with physicians/holistic practitioners, dieticians and families to ensure medical stability and facilitate healing in the most balanced way. Please contact me if you would like additional infomation or to schedule and initial meeting.
