Eating Disorders Treatment Center at Hampstead Hospital

The Hampstead Hospital Eating Disorders Treatment Center provides an intensive, multidisciplinary approach for the treatment of anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating disorder in individuals 15 years or older. Inpatient services are available for those needing intensive treatment for eating disorders, depression and/or other illnesses. Partial hospitalization is available for those requiring daily structure, meal support, and more intensive treatment than outpatient services can provide. The partial program offers a flexible schedule and is available Monday through Friday, 9am - 6pm.

The Centers philosophy is based on a Solution-Focused and Relational Model approach which provides treatment that is both goal oriented and nurturing. Staff members use cognitive behavioral techniques to interrupt the eating disorder behaviors while building rapport and developing authentic and supportive relationships.

Our goal is to assist patients in developing a healthy relationship with food while identifying and beginning to heal the underlying feelings and internal conflicts. Women and men who suffer from eating disorders have used their behavior as a coping strategy. Our staff helps patients discover their internal strengths and develop alternative, healthy coping skills while simultaneously challenging the distorted and negative thinking that perpetuates symptoms. We believe that recovery is possible and attainable. We strive to help those struggling move beyond their eating disorder to embrace the full and satisfying life they so richly deserve.
