Westchester Eating Disorders Consultation Services provides consultation to individuals, couples, or families, provides psychotherapy when indicated, makes any necessary referrals, and coordinates treatment. A treatment group for women who have problems with compulsive eating and body image issues is available. Dr. Farber also does consultation for individuals considering bariatric surgery, to advise them of the psychological risks involved, and provides pre- and post-surgical treatment.
Services to organizations and private practitioners include consultation,in service training seminars, workshops for professionals, parents, students.
Dr. Sharon K. Farber's work has been featured in The New York Times, Parents Magazine, and on network television. Her papers have been published in scientific publications. She has done original research on eating disorders and other self-harm which has been presented at national and international clinical and research conferences. Her book, "When the Body Is the Target: Self-Harm, Pain, and Traumatic Attachments" was published August 2000 by Jason Aronson Inc. and was reprinted in 2002. It was a best seller of the Psychotherapy Book Club.

The Westchester Task Force on Eating Disorders
The Westchester Task Force on Eating Disorders holds monthly meetings on Saturday
September 12th, October 3, November 7 and December 5, from 9:30 am to 11 am at the White Plains Hospital Center in the Board Room.
Sufferers and family memebers are welcome. Meetings are led by psychologists or nutritionists specializing in eating disorders. No pre-registration required.
