Food for Thought
by: Laura

Contemplating again
overload
and sitting
trying
not to feed
her empty consciousness
deep inner hunger
she tries
not to think about
peanuts
in the next room
instead trying
desperately
to imagine herself
without herself
and grabs a handful
anyway
to calm
the maddening world
that no one
ever could fit
at least no one she wants
no one she needs
all she needs
is another
handful
to make it all go away
in a single
effortless
guilt-frosted cupcake
chocolate
again
and another
she cries
as she knows
where it goes
once again
to her head
to her body she knows
where it goes
think about something else
about jeans
that don't fit
and the numbers
increasing
and circling
again with another
quick bite
it's shot down
and another
quick bite
takes another
quick piece
from her soul
