Journey
by: Kiersten

I am on a journey, the road is bumpy
there are numerous hills, dips and turns.
Sometimes it rains, sometimes it snows,
but always, I can see the sun in the distance.
The warm rays glimmer in my face, I can
feel it's heat warm my back as I travel.
As I face the corners, the forks in the road I
reach a crossroads.
I look to the left, I look to the right,
uncertain which road to choose.
I am tempted to go back to the path I have traveled,
secure in what I already know.
As I look at my choice, I reach for the sun, trust
in it's glow to lead me in the right direction.
I am trusting the unknown, trusting my leaders to
guide my way.
Around the bend, I can see the flowers blooming in
the distance.
Continuing on, I look to my side and catch a view of the
alternative path.
It is cold and dark, gloomy and gray
The rain and sleet are pelting on the travelers, inflicting pain
and continuous sadness.
I breathe a sigh of relief in the comfort of knowing that the road
I chose, though difficult and my most challenging fight thus far in life, is far better
then the torturous alternative path.
