What Is Winning? (A step into recovery)
by: Ann M.

I was lost and lonely
no where to run.
So I buried myself
from everyone.
Lost my dreams,
my spirit,
my health,
and mind
and blamed it all on others,
"Oh! The world's so unkind!"
I tried so hard to control
everything outside,
but then looking inward
I've discovered
I lied.
I've run and hid
did it all my own way,
thought I was so right
told them all "GO AWAY."
The world's been my enemy
There's no one to trust.
Now I believe......truly, I must.
I've been going in circles
again and again.
By starving my body
I'd thought that I'd win.
What is winning
if death is the prize?
And is my self worth really based on my size?
Perhaps being open and honest and willing's the key
and if I step forward with faith, focus and trust
I will find me.
