RESEARCH FINDINGS ON ZOFRAN

I represent a group of research scientists at the University of Minnesota. Recently we announced a discovery that amounts to over ten years of research on bulimia nervosa. Our findings were published in the Journal Lancet (www.thelancet.com) Europe's most prestigious medical journal. Specifically this publication details our research on bulimia nervosa using an anti-nausea drug typically given to cancer patients to help calm the side-effects of chemo-therapy. We have successfully shown that the drug named Zofran (ondansetron HCL) has been approved by the FDA and is a safe and effective treatment for bulimia (*serious side-effects are typically limited to constipation). I'm writing you because although most of the medical and scientific community has been apprised of our findings we are having some difficulty reaching those who need it the most... we have created a web site where all of our findings are detailed and even have an 800 number that interested parties can call for more information.

UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH PROJECT

I am currently a sophomore psychology major at a Midwestern University. I am a recovering bulimic. For my research methods course, I am conducting "research" on the levels of stress and coping style in bulimic women. I am asking for 20 bulimic women who are willing to participate in this study. It will only take a small amount of time (3 surveys). None of the results will be published (it is for learning purposes only) and your confidentiality will be ensured. If you are interested in participating, please email me.

WARNING - AD CAMPAIGN (Renewed Announcement)
Berry Trim Diet Scam

Please be aware of the an unbelievably irresponsible direct mail campaign by Health Laboratories of North America. They manufacture a "miracle" diet product called Berry Trim Plus. The company is sending a full page ad on a product for weight loss. It is a newspaper ad and at the top, they are handwriting your name with a message that says,

    [Name], Try it. It Works!
The envelope is typed and there is no return address. It is sent to you as anonymous mail with a personal note. Clearly the intention is to have you believe that someone you know is sending it to you.

To the normal public, this letter might be brushed off. To anyone who struggles with an eating disorder, this is an absolutely devastating "personal" message to receive in the mail.

At the advice of e-mail we've received from numerous people, we want to make as many people know about this as we can so that they do not take the personal message to heart. We also encourage you to report the company to the Better Business Bureau in Carson, Nevada, where their headquarters are located.

If you receive a copy of this "ad" in the mail, please send it to the Better Business Bureau, along with a complaint, or contact them by telephone. You can also go to their website to file a complaint...
The Better Business Bureau - www.bbb.org

Several people have requested the company's direct address and there's even been mention of filing a class action mail fraud lawsuit. Here is the most current information we have:
