New York City
The workshop will be lead by the published poet and recovering anorexic, Cynthia Cruz. A graduate of the Sarah Lawrence College MFA program, her work has been published in Pleaides, Chelsea, The New Orleans, Review, Spinning Jenny, and Third Bed. The workshop will meet one evening a week for 8 consecutive weeks beginning in late January/early February{exact date will be determined based on participant's schedules}. The format of the workshop will be a close reading and discussion of poems written by women poets including Louise Gluck, Sylvia Plath, Marie Howe, and others. Following the discussion, students will read their work aloud, receiving craft-based feedback aimed at assisting each writer to better strengthen her voice.
