Seeking Participants For A Study On Bulimia And Binge Eating Disorder-- Offering Free State-Of-The-Art Treatment And $50.00 For Participation

The Rutgers Eating Disorders Clinic, at Rutgers University in central New Jersey, is doing an important research study on bulimia and binge eating, and factors affecting the patterns of eating involved in these disorders. The benefit of this research to society and practitioners is to help lead to a better understanding of eating disorders and the factors that maintain and treat them. The benefits to participants are the greater understanding of their eating patterns and an increased self-awareness. This study is being sponsored by the National Institute of Mental Health.

In return for participating, you will receive free treatment at the Rutgers University Eating Disorders Clinic, which is directed by G. Terence Wilson, a leading international expert in the treatment of eating disorders. You will also receive $50.00 in payment for your participation.

Eligible participants (determined by an interview) will be asked to keep records of their eating patterns and will receive healthful nutritional supplements (free of charge) and two test meals on the premises at the clinic. Subjects will be asked to bring in these records to the clinic.

Personal Stories Needed

I am interested in editing a book similar to the format of Sara Shandler's Ophelia Speaks; however, this will focus only on eating disorders and encompass all ages and gender. I would like to include some of the neglected areas of eating disorders, such as COE and male sufferers. I am in the process of submitting a proposal to several publishing companies and need a few additional entries for the proposal. Please note a category at the top (recovery, anorexia, bulimia, compulsive overeating, not specified, a/b, abuse-related, other addictions). Also, please include your name, age, and gender. These can be personal stories, essays, poems, etc. with a maximum word count of 600. I request that you exclude numbers relating to calories and weight where possible. This is a book that hopefully will help sufferers, not trigger them. Please keep this in mind.
