If you (or a girl you know), know a girl age 8 to 14 who is truly beautiful
just for being herself, send us an essay of no more than 200 words telling
us EXACTLY why she is beautiful on the inside. Make it as unique and
interesting as possible. Be sure to include the name, age, address, phone
number, and e-mail address for yourself and your beautiful girl. If

Twenty-five girls will be selected by the New Moon Girls Editorial Board and
be featured in the May/June issue of New Moon: The Magazine For Girls And

We provide referrals to eating disorder practitioners, treatment facilities, and support groups. Referrals to eating disorder practitioners are offered at NO CHARGE as a community service. In addition, we offer general information to the public about the treatment and prevention of eating disorders and we hope to promote social attitudes that enhance a healthy body image and self-esteem.

Eating Disorders frequently take families, therapists and medical staff by
surprise. How do you know a loved one or patient is suffering for this often
hidden and secret disorders? Carolyn Costin believes that each of her
clients, to a greater or lesser degree, there exists a separate "eating
disorder self" with it�s own set of needs, feelings, thoughts, and behaviors,
all different from the "executive self," which comes to the therapy session.
Empathizing with and working directly with this disordered self, is the key
to recovery.
About the presenter: A Recovered anorexic for over 20 years, Carolyn�s own
experience is a primary factor in understanding eating disorders. Well versed
in the etiology and treatment of eating disorders since 1979,Carolyn became
the owner and director of Monte Nido, a residential treatment program for
eating disorders in Malibu CA. She has successfully trained many other
professionals in this specialized work, has spoken on this topic on TV and
radio across the United States and has written Your Dieting Daughter, The
Eating Disorder Sourcebook, and Anorexia and Bulimia: Natural Therapies.
