Another Face in the Crowd
She hides it with her smile, with her athleticism, with her good grades
The world would not believe it, even if she confessed
"Not you," they would say, "You're too smart, too strong to do that."
But she does do it and its grip on her is tightening
It's taken control of her, made her its puppet, powerless in defense, unable to resist
She appears healthy, yet her insides are slowly rotting away
The foul smell lingers on her hand while the splash marks on her pants threatens the survival of the secret
And she is not alone, there are many others
They unknowingly share in a secret club where they seem to be the only member
She surveys the crowd, wondering who else shares her secret, but they do not stand out
She, along with them, is just another face in the crowd
