Sick

i'm sick and
tired
of looking into the mirror
and crying at what i see
of dying inside
at pictures in magazines
that i can't help but read.

of going hungry for long periods of time
and stifling the desire to eat
and passing up life
because i'd rather stay home
stare in the mirror and stand on the scales
and cry myself to sleep.

this started as a protest poem
an active call-to-arms
but now descended to something else
a pitiful cry for someone to help
my strength is sapped
like so much else it's died
and i can't rest in
peace.
