Center for Hope of the Sierras
Nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Center for Hope of the Sierras offers residential therapy and a step-down transitional program for the treatment of anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and related afflictions.
Less than 30 minutes from Lake Tahoe, the Center grounds are comprised of two large, yet cozy Victorian-Country style neighboring homes. Each house holds six beds, creating a welcoming and supportive environment where our patients can cope with difficult issues associated with their eating disorder. The yards feature several large, covered porches with sitting areas, a koi pond with waterfalls, two spa tubs, and vegetable and flower gardens.
Our mission at Center for Hope of the Sierras is to welcome each person who enters our doors with an excitement about their willingness to heal and with respect for the courage it takes to enter treatment.
We offer compassion, dignity, and a commitment to each person's unique healing process.
At Center for Hope of the Sierras, we believe that patients with eating disorders are unique, creative, caring, and sensitive individuals who may struggle to find a connection with their true inner spirit. To recover from an eating disorder, the patient must develop a sense of their own spirit and self, and a belief that their emotions are valid, important, and worth noticing.
On their unique path to recovery, patients are encouraged to choose to redefine life in terms, which are of true value and meaning to them, rather than as a response to cultural pressures to pursue a body size and shape that denies their physical and personal needs. Health of mind and body will begin to evolve as one's unique and individual sense of self begins to emerge. It is a this point that true healing can begin.
